Kids generally of this time spend most of their time on using digital devices for their learning, enjoyment and work. This habit is slowly resulting in bad posture, as overuse of digital devices for long hours can result in many health issues. Proper body posture plays an important role in your child, early age is crucial for their general well-being and self-esteem. Adding easy and enjoyable exercises in their daily routine can create a big impact in improving their overall physical posture. Here are some practical tips to help your child get proper posture by following the workouts below:
1. Cat-Cow Stretch
This gentle, relaxing yoga sequence enhances spinal flexibility and alleviates back tension, as shown with the help of the image below.

Steps to follow:
- Have your child start on their hands and knees in a tabletop position.
- Instruct them to inhale deeply, arching their back and lifting their head and tailbone towards the ceiling (Cow Pose).
- On the exhalation, they should round their back, tucking their chin to their chest and tailbone under (Cat Pose).
- Repeat this sequence slowly for 10 repetitions.
2. Superman Exercise
As it’s name in this exercise your child will become Superman. The lower back and core muscles are strengthened by this exercise, which is crucial for maintaining proper posture.

Steps to follow:
- As your child lies face down on the floor, have them extend their arms in front of them.
- They should continuously lift their arms, chest, and legs off the ground, imitating Superman flying.
- Hold the same position for around 5 seconds and then tell them to relax.
- Perform 10 repetitions.
3. Child's Pose
A relaxing position that promotes flexibility and relaxation by gently stretching the hips and back.
Steps to follow:
- With knees apart and big toes touching, have your child sit back on their knees.
- They should then reach their arms forward, lowering their chest towards the ground.
- Tell your child to take deep breaths and hold them for 30 seconds in the same position.
4. Wall Angels
This exercise helps open up the chest and strengthen upper back muscles, counteracting slouched shoulders.
Steps to follow:
- Your child should stand with their feet a few inches from the wall and their back to it.
- They should press their lower back, upper back, and head against the wall.
- With elbows bent at 90 degrees and arms against the wall, instruct them to slowly raise and lower their arms, maintaining contact with the wall throughout.
- Just try to repeat it 10 repetition.
5. Penguin Walk
A fun activity that promotes shoulder flexibility and opens up the chest.
Steps to follow:
- While keeping their legs straight and their toes pointed outward, ask your kid to press their shoulders back and chest forward.
- For a minute, encourage them to move about like penguins.
- This might be a fun method to work on your posture.
6. Crab Walk
This movement strengthens the core, arms, and shoulders, supporting better posture.
Steps to follow:
- With their hands behind them and their feet flat, have your youngster sit on the floor.
- To create a "tabletop" position, they should raise their hips off the floor.
- Instruct them to spend a minute walking sideways, forward, and backward as shown below.
7. Shoulder Blade Squeezes
This exercise helps to straighten and strengthen the shoulders by exercising the muscles in the upper back, which helps in proper posture over time.

- Ask your child to sit or stand up straight.
- They should gently pull their shoulder blades together, imagining trying to hold a pencil between them.
- Hold for 5 seconds, then relax.
- Just try to repeat it 10 repetition.
8. Plank
A fundamental core-strengthening exercise that supports the entire spine.
Steps to follow:
- Have your child lie face down, then lift their body onto their forearms and toes, keeping the body in a straight line.
- Ensure they don't let their hips sag or rise too high.
- Start by holding for 10 seconds, gradually increasing the duration as they build strength.
9. Bridge Pose
This exercise improves posture by strengthening the hip and lower back muscles of your child.
Steps to follow:
- To start with this exercise, ask your child to lie on their back with their feet flat on the floor and their knees bent.
- In order to make a straight line from shoulders to knees, they should raise their hips, as shown in the picture below.
- After five seconds of holding, return to a lowered hip position and relax.
- Do this ten times.
10. Bird Dog
This exercise enhances stability and strengthens the core and back muscles as both get activated through this single exercise this is quite advance you can practice exercise based on your child’s capability and strength.

Steps to follow:
- Have your child start on their hands and knees.
- They should extend their right arm forward and left leg backward simultaneously, keeping the body balanced.
- Hold for 5 seconds, then switch side.
- Perform 10 repetitions on each side.
